Eating properly before any excercise is vital to achieving peak performance. We encourage our players to eat well before games to perform at their best.

Healthy eating is an important part of game preparation - from the day before the game, right up to kick-off. Click on the link below to download an article from the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) with their recommendations for healthy eating before playing sport.

Fitness Tips

Pre-season fitness is crucial to avoiding injuries and to give it your best. The following simple drills can be done anywhere.

  • Stretching: Quadraceps (thighs), hamstrings and groin msucles all get a heavy workout. Stretch well.
  • Sprint training: Sprint over increasing distances with a one minute break between sprints. Try 30m, 50m, 70m, 100m.
  • Other running: Running forwards and backwards is excellent for overall stamina and fitness. As with sprints, run over increasing distances. Try 5m, 10m, 15m, 20m - all forwards and backwards.
